ISMA has elaborated two new programmes of higher education in the sphere of trade – a two-year programme (college level) and a four-year programme (Bachelor's level). The two-year programme provides students with the opportunity to get first level professional higher education and fourth level professional qualification in the field of marketing and trade. The content of the programme corresponds to the programmes offered in Denmark, Great Britain and the USA.
The students who acquire the above-mentioned programme have additional opportunity to choose one of the seven directions of the offered specialisation. Having acquired the first direction of the specialisation – Business Marketing and Trade, the graduates will become indispensable specialists at production enterprises being able to ensure successful sale and purchase operations.
Specialising in e-marketing and trade the graduates will be in demand at any enterprise which operates in electronic environment. Ethic Marketing and Trade is the innovation of the European level. It gives students the opportunity to prepare for work with different ethnic groups at various ethnic markets. Students prepare to work in banks and other financial institutions specialising in the direction of Financial Services Marketing and Trade.
Innovation Marketing and Trade will let the graduates to acquire the competencies, which are necessary for successful promotion of various new products on the market. These specialists can be reliable support for different scientific institutions in the commercialisation of their developments.
The students, who specialise in the direction of Culture Marketing and Trade, are ensured knowledge, skills and competencies for successful performance on creative industry market.
And finally, the graduates, who specialise in the direction of Real Estate Marketing and Trade, will be ready to operate on the real estate market and perform entrepreneurial activities in the field of real estate. It is planned to enrol not more than 25 students in each direction of the specialisation.
Thus, the new programme “Trade Management” provides students with the opportunity of thorough acquisition of theoretical and practical aspects of marketing and trade as well as enables them to specialise in the direction of marketing and trade, which they choose. This approach to the educational process lets graduates become much more competitive on the labour markets of Latvia and Europe.
The students will be well prepared for the work in the sphere of wholesale and retail trade, and in other fields of economy. After finishing the study programme Marketing and Trade the graduates can continue their studies as third year students of the Trade Management Study Programme and get the qualification of business administrator in trade.
So, after the acquisition of the two-year and the four-year programmes the students will receive two higher education diplomas. Those, who are going to get the qualification of business administrator in trade, can start studies at the four-year study programme Trade Management.
This higher education programme embraces the Bachelor’s standard and trade management study courses. The content of the Professional Bachelor’s Degree Study Programme corresponds to the contents of the programmes offered by the universities of Great Britain – Retail Trade Management and Marketing Management. This means that in the bounds of the study programme students will have the opportunity to study in one of the universities of Great Britain during one or more semesters at the corresponding study programme and gain the experience of studies and work abroad.
